A Note to My Future Self

I've read so many social media posts, letters and books written to younger selves — letters filled with hindsight, healing, regrets, lessons, and grace.

Today, I want to write forward. I want to leave a map, a message, a mirror for the woman I am becoming.

What if we made it a practice to whisper encouragement into our futures, rather than only our pasts?

Ring...ring.... I am calling my future self

Here’s to visioning — not just goal-setting, but daring to become who I was always meant to be.

In 5 years, I see a version of myself that is clear-minded, deeply rooted, and wildly focused. I want to be thriving in leadership — not just by title, but by influence and impact. I want my work to feel aligned with my purpose, and my voice to be a tool for change and healing.

In 10 years, I want to have built systems — not just brands or businesses — but sustainable, life-giving systems that nurture others. I want to be mentoring women globally, opening doors for them to walk through with confidence. I see my name attached to a cause, not just a career. I see global rooms that don’t feel intimidating because I know I belong there.

In 15 years, I want legacy to be unfolding. I want to be known not just for what I did, but for what I made possible for others. I want my daughter and children (biological or otherwise) to know that I lived for something bigger than success — I lived for service, transformation, and love in action.

If someone mentions my name, I want the words “she gave me courage” to follow.

This is more than goal-setting. This is becoming — a long, beautiful stretch into the future, with intentional steps that begin today.

So, future me: I hope you’re proud. I hope you remember that this started here — with a quiet, bold decision to dream out loud.

Just like Peter Drucker said"The best way to predict the future is to create it."

Can you share your note to your future self? Let's create it; it starts in the mind and with words - Let there be light...and there was light!

Dream forward. Live into your becoming.

Cheers,

Omowunmi
