Just like our phones and devices need a break to recharge, so does our body. If we neglect to plug them in, they eventually shut down.
The same principle applies to us; we need to prioritize downtime and rejuvenation, not just during the summer or when we feel completely drained.
Taking time to 'relax and recharge' is essential, and it doesn’t have to be expensive—it’s all about being intentional.
I came across a study that revealed 72% of people have their best ideas while showering!
Clearly, relaxation fuels creativity. It also promotes better health.
Here are some questions to evaluate how you rest and relax:
Aside taking scheduled breaks, do you have a weekly structure that allows you to rest and relax?
Do you have hobbies or fun activities planned every week?
How often do you actually relax?
For me, relaxation comes in many forms: praying, swimming, watching a good movie, playing with puppies, enjoying a massage or spa day, meditating, or simply lying still.
Regardless of how hectic life gets, remember to take time for yourself. You can’t give your best if you’re running on an empty tank.
I wholeheartedly agree with Mark Black’s insight: "Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax."
What activities help you unwind and recharge?
How do you plan to prioritize rest and relaxation this week?
